The big day... I'll be away..

Just to let you know I'll be away for two weeks because we are getting hitched!

The big day is at London and we will be honeymooning in various european cities afterwards - check back for lots of photos.

I'll be keeping my Etsy shop open during this time but all orders will ship after the 8th November. I'll be in touch when I am back to let you know when your order will be shipped.

See you on the other side!

all of a flutter...

I've been shopping for a lot of beads recently (yay!) in preparation for Christmas sales (hopefully they will be plentiful!) and amongst the packages were these gorgeous lucite flowers.

They are etched with floral patterns and remind me of delicate glass lampshades. I've put them with sterling silver hoops for lots of movement, I think they look very cute this way too!

They are very spring like in appearance, not at all for this time of year, but they were such lovely beads that I had to buy them and use them straight away.

I hope you like them! They are in my Etsy shop.

Getting organised...

I do like organising myself, I am naturally a neat person (and maybe some people would call me a clean freak...), and this extends to my jewellery stash too!

I bought some new bead boxes last week and spent a happy afternoon filling them up with beads and metals in a neat way. Its a bit sad but its nice to have them all sorted by colour! Hopefully I'll be more productive now that i can find my beads more easily, rather than having to sort through piles of ziplock bags and jam jars full of beads..

The extra geekiness comings from the fact that the boxes have tarnish inhibiting dividers in them, so my brass and silver stays sparkly!

autumness

We are definitely in to the swing of Autumn now. I've lost count of the amount of squashes and pumpkins I've bought and consumed, we've been eating a lot more soup and the fire has been on!

I must get out and take some pictures of the lovely golden trees, before they are bare for the winter.

For now I've been thinking autumn on the jewellery front too..

This luxurious 'Fireside Necklace' is made from chunky sterling silver chain and beautiful crackled vintage glass and vintage resin beads. I love the glow that it has, it looks so delicate and warm when worn. In my Etsy shop

For those that know me a bit better (or follow me on twitter!) you may know that I am getting married soon, I will be sure to blog my outfit soon and the day once we are back from our honeymoon. Watch this space :)

adventures with soldering - part two

I've been erm soldering on with the silversmithing and I am happy to list my first item!

I'm starting out simple and the soldered pieces here are two hammered round rings of silver. I've added some lovely cherry red hollow glass beads and some earwires handmade by me.

These are likely to be one of a kind as each set of circles I produce at the moment tends to vary!

Hopefully i'll be able to list some more soon, I am thinking of necklaces, simple circles for everyday wear.

Watch this space!

Blackberry Season..

The blackberry bush at the end of the garden is looking lovely, we have had great year for them.

I've been seeing lots of blackberry eton mess recipes for a while and I thought I'd give it a try, but in a much more speedy way.

I sweetened some creme fraiche to taste with icing sugar, added in half the blackberries and mushed them up a bit. Then I broke up a couple of meringues (I buy ready made from the bakery section, they taste just as good without the hassle), spoon over the creme fraiche and the other half of the fresh blackberries - eat with a big spoon!

To make this even quicker you could even use ice cream. Marscarpone works well in place of creme fraiche too.
