Peach cupcakes
I've been craving peaches for a while now and I really did fall hard for this recipe on Smitten Kitchen. So naturally I had to make them.
You don't see English peaches very often, I don't think they grow well here so I expect anyone with a healthy peach tree in England keeps the peaches to themselves! So I went for the food miled Spanish peaches at my local farm shop. I consoled myself that at least from the farm shop they'd be a bit better than the watery offerings from the supermarkets.
The peaches were lovely and sweet and they work so well in cupcakes. The cake was very moist and with a lovely sweetness, but not too sweet. I can't pretend I am good at icing cakes, my effort was very much less neat than the ones exhibted by Deb on Smitten Kitchen, but the frosting tasted as good as I'd hoped it would, which is the main thing!
I think I'll try these again soon, this time with more of a breakfast muffin approach as suggested by Deb too. I think I'll swap out a little bit of the flour for oats and add an extra peach into the mix too.

new blue things
I've been eagerly awaiting these beads, they are both very special and both my favourite kind of vintage beads.
These are vintage rough cuts or English cut beads, they are rare and very old, I would say probably 1950s. Each of the beads is hand cut so every bead and facet is different from the rest. It also gives the beads a beautiful chippy rustic look that I love.
The crisp blue works so well with brass so I put them together (straight away, I couldn't wait!) with this lovely golden chunky brass chain. The Capri bracelet is one of a kind and in my Etsy shop.
The second lot of beads are these dimpled textured beads that you may have seen in my shop before in different colours.
This time I have found them in a glorious deep midnight blue colour. As yet I'm not sure what to do with them but I'll keep you posted! I have just two of these beads so whatever I do make will be one of a kind or limited edition. They will also form part of my new Autumn collection.
If you are a newsletter subscriber stay tuned for a special offer on my Autumn collection, if you haven't subscribed already you can do so at the top right of this page :)

autumn preview no. 3
A necklace!
In wonderful autumnal amber with golden brass, I love the vibrancy of this lucite ring, the facets on it make it extra special and really show off the amber.
In my shop very soon, I hope to start listing in a week or so :)
Look out for more autumnal goodies soon.
Also, to make way for new things, I am running a very nice sale in my Etsy shop.
All sale earrings are only $10.

jam!
yay!
After last years harvest of two plums (because it basically rained throughout Spring and Summer) I was so pleased to see the trees heaving with plums once again. So last weekend, I made jam!
Looks like we have plenty to see us through the winter, I am waiting the weather to get cold now so I can have it on my porridge as soon as possible ;)

rarities
I love scouring for interesting beads, its half the fun of jewellery making, and lately I have been lucky to find some very rare and very beautiful vintage beads.
I don't claim to be an expert but I do know some people that are! I got these beautiful vintage beads from a relative, I thought them to be made in England but it turns out they are venetian beads and very rare. My lovely etsy friend and lampwork glass aficionado Leeski told me about them.
They are venetian glass with a sparkle of aventurina, which is the gold swirl you can see. Apparently very hard to find and rarely seen, and they are handpainted too!
I have just the one pair in my shop, and those beads are the only ones I have, so they are definitely going to be one of a kind!
I could talk forever about some of the other rare beads I have found lately, but I won't waffle too much, instead I'll leave you with some pictures. Click on the photo to see the listing, which has more information.
